ARC north west opens office in Omagh

The Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme (NIRDP) 2007-2013 for the Council areas of Derry, Limavady, Omagh and Strabane will be delivered by ARC north west over the next five years. The name ARC north west ‘Assisting Rural Communities in the north west’, reflects the target geographical area as well as the broad range of rural stakeholders who will benefit from the £18.48 million funding allocated to the
North West area.

Through a range of funding measures, the Rural Development Programme presents tremendous opportunities for rural individuals and communities to improve the quality and sustainability of local social and economic life in the rural North West.

The first call for applications for grant assistance with projects under the first two Measures, Diversification into Non-agricultural Activities and Business Creation and Development, which closed in August, resulted in over 320 applications. These applications are currently being assessed and decisions are expected early in the New Year.

Meanwhile the first call for applications under Measures 3.3 Encouragement of Tourism Activities, Measure 3.4 Basic Services for the Rural Economy and Population and Measure 3.6 Conservation and Upgrading of Rural Heritage has just closed and these applications will be assessed in the coming months.
